Director of Tennis
Andy Zodin…Andy has been a USPTA, Pro-1 certified professional since 1984, and loves to coach adults and juniors of all levels. His coaching style is considered somewhat old-school, focusing on a players’ ability to be smart, high percentage, and consistent, as the highest priority. Andy believes the game should be fun and great exercise, no matter what level you are trying to play. He believes that by having steady, solid fundamentals, you can then gain the confidence you require to use your weapons efficiently and most effectively. Andy and his staff promote and value impeccable sportsmanship for both adults and juniors, taking great pride in Columbine Country Club having a reputation as being very gracious competitors in all USTA league and tournament play.
As a player, “AZ” has had most of his success as a doubles player, and played collegiately at UT in Austin. He has held state rankings in Texas and/or Colorado every year since 1976. He is also the host of Sunday Night SportsZone on Mile High Sports Radio in Denver www.sportszone1510.com, which features IN THE TENNIS ZONE, the only weekly tennis talk-radio show in the country. AZ is also a regular on Tennis Channel’s Best of Five, part of TC’s original programming series.

Professional Staff
Stephen Nolen, Director of High Performance Juniors….Stephen is a former #1 player at the University of Virginia and a former nationally ranked junior from Colorado. He has an excellent approach to working with junior players, as he is fun, insightful, and though very easy-going, Stephen insists our players give their best effort, at all times.
Ian Ayler…Ian was top 25 nationally, out of Colorado, a high state champion in 1984 out of Littleton High School. Played #1 singles at Arizona, followed by a high of top 150 in doubles on the ATP tour. Ian loves coaching all ages and levels of adults and juniors, and he has over 25 years of teaching experience, as a USPTA, Pro-1 coach. He has a very engaging personality, and has been a very popular teacher in Colorado for many years.
Jake Keller…Jake played collegiately at BYU, and has been regarded as one of the most knowledgeable and well-liked pros in Colorado for the last 10 years. Jake is an excellent stroke “diagnostician” and runs extremely productive drill groups, keeping a very high level of activity going, making his groups equally instructional and fitness-conscious.
Kellen Damico…Formerly one of the top-ranked juniors in the world, Kellen won a Junior Wimbledon doubles title in 2006, before leading his Texas Longhorn team to the only NCAA finals appearance in the school’s history, in 2008. Kellen is a phenomenal ball-striker with an amazing playing resume, and has a personality that juniors gravitate toward, in droves!
Tennis Department Senior Staff
Tom Wilson….A strong, active 4.5 player, Tom is active in all facets of the CCC program, including all levels of junior coaching, adult drills, and departmental coordination and maintenance. Tom is an extremely cordial guy, that works hard and thoroughly enjoys interacting with tennis players.
Elizabeth Crites…An active 3.5 league and tournament player, Elizabeth is involved on-court and off, with our ladies program, and with the admin and marketing of our special events, instructional programs, and pro-shop. Elizabeth is lots of fun, and loves being around the sport of tennis, and all that goes with it!
Tennis Department Junior Staff
Connor Arend…The #1 boys player at Mullen High School, Connor strings, works in the shop, coaches our QuickStart kids, our JTT kids, and is a mainstay in helping keep our facility looking its very best.
Arik Steinberg….A very good tennis player, Arik will again join us, after finishing his freshman year at Kansas University. Arik is very helpful with coaching our Junior Team Tennis (JTT) squads.
Kelli Woodman…One of the most popular, well-respected, and well-liked girls among her competitive peers, Kelli is a Colorado High School State 5-A girls singles champion from Cherry Creek HS. Very active with all levels of our juniors.
Matt Sayre….A top ranked Colorado junior, who has been in the top 120 players nationally, Matt is a bright, funny guy, with immense talent and experience as a competitive tennis player. Active primarily with HP juniors, he is an excellent hitting partner for juniors and adults.
Breezy Coyne….A very accomplished gymnast, diver, and varsity tennis player at Columbine High School, Breezy is extremely popular with all of our members, and our QuickStart Juniors, in particular. Breezy is active in most, if not all areas of our tennis program. Her energy is contagious!
Lorraine Smith….D’Evelyn High School’s #1 player, Lorraine helps with our younger juniors, is an excellent hitting partner for juniors as well as adults, and helps with our accounting and admin for the tennis department.
John Simpson…A varsity singles player at Chatfield High School, John has a great personality, a terrific tennis game, and is active with QuickStart, Junior Team Tennis, help with court maintenance, and in the tennis shop.

Adults of all levels and advanced juniors will participate in a musical day of drills, games, “beat the pro”, world-class exhibition tennis, great food, drinks, prizes, and incredible auction items. This is CCC’s tennis event of the year!!

MAX 14 teams per week. This is a complimentary, “member-appreciation” program.
More Special Events/Offerings:
1. Video Stroke Analysis…….Will be working with a video team to offer a very simple, price-conscious opportunity for our players to get their strokes video-taped and analyzed. The video would be uploaded to a web site, where it analyzed with voice-over critique, and viewable on a private basis only. Dates of this offering are TBA, but likely the first of these dates would be during the ladies, pre-season boot camp. We will be offering this special new service for both adults and juniors, but only on a handful of designated dates.
2. Ladies Pro-Ams………..Dates: 7/26 (2.5-3.0) & 8/2 (3.5-4.0) These were very popular last year. Max of 12 players, grouped in three’s,each of the four teams being assigned to play with, and be coached by during this half-day, round-robin format.
3. Vail Trip………8/3 & 8/4 (Family drills, mixer vacation at Vail Racquet Club) We now have a relationship with the Vail Racquet Club, Mountain resort. CCC we will be offering a tennis family trip there for instructional drills, match-play, And to take advantage of all of the beautiful amenities that the resort has to offer, at arguably the hottest part of our summer. 4. Ladies Member/Guest…… Friday, September 6th, 9:30am-1:30pmThis one-day event should be exactly what the doctor ordered to showcase our growing and very impressive CCC ladies tennis program.
